Day 1 Maun Arrival
Day 1 Maun Arrival

Guests will be picked up by Kala Safaris, safari guide from a safari lodge in Maun or Maun International Airport. Guests will be picked in a 4x4 open game viewer followed by a safari game viewing safety briefing. A 3 hours drive or transfer to Moremi Game Reserve (South side) will start on a 99km dirt bumpy terrain. The drive will be slow and safe with plenty of game viewing stops along the way as wildlife is still plenty on route to the game reserve. The Usual time of guest’s pickup is normally 8:30 am. The transfer will include a bush coffee stretch stop and picnic lunch. The morning transfer cover the first game drive of the tour through the many game viewing stops that occur along the way. Guests will arrive in camp shortly after the picnic lunch to offload their luggage and to familiarize themselves with the camp during the day’s light and to have hot showers. Towards sunset guests will leave camp to enjoy the first Moremi Game Reserve sunset over sundowner toast. Around 18:15pm guests will head back to camp to be treated with a three course bush dinner and close the day around the camp fire. Day 1 and 2 will see the guests being introduced to the water logged south side of Moremi Game Reserve to enjoying the view of both Botswana safari wildlife and an introduction to the flow of the Okavango Delta waters running in to Moremi Game Reserve.

Day 1 - 2 South of Moremi Game Reserve

The tour time schedule will be as follows:
Every day guests will be woken up by their safari guide around 05:30am or 06:00am (depending on the agreed time) to have a 30 minutes morning refresh time. Followed by 30 minutes of breakfast before leaving for the first morning game drive of the day around 06:30am or 07:00am. Around 11:00/12:00 pm depending on the natural uncontrolled game viewing sightings, guests will be driven back to camp to relax, have lunch, take showers, download photos and to charge cameras before the evening game drive that will start around 15:00pm to 18:15pm. On days/dates that guests seek not to do any game drives but to relax in the camp, their request will be honored.

Day 3-4 North of Moremi Game Reserve

Camp Transfer day

Day 3 will start normal like the previous day 2. Around 07:00am guests will have their last morning game drive in Moremi Game Reserves (South side) while the Kala Safaris camp team will take the time to break down the camp and drive ahead of the guests to campsites north of Moremi Game Reserve. Around 11:00 am guests will leave south of Moremi Game Reserve and drive within Moremi Game Reserve towards the North of the Game Reserve. Guests will wrap up the day with a sunset stop on the north of Moremi Game Reserve to take in the different landscape, scenery and vegetation before retiring to the new campsite.

Day 4 will be a full day exploring the north of Moremi Game Reserve with the two game drives of the day both the morning game drive from 07:00 am until noon and the evening game drive which will be complemented by a late afternoon 2 hours boat ride to experience Moremi Game Reserve aquatic game life at a closer view.

Day 5-6 North East of Moremi Game Reserve

Camp Transfer day

Day 5 will be a transfer day for the Kala Safari team and the guests. The order of the first transfer event will follow in all the transfer days. Guests will wake up to enjoy the last morning game drive in the North of Moremi Game Reserve before heading to the North East region called Khwai in the afternoon to continue the last part of Moremi Game Reserve exploration and to have their sunset safari continue in Khwai.

Khwai is a Morden day bush man village boarding Moremi Game Reserve on the North East. The Moremi North East side is also called Khwai. Day 6 will see the guests continue to see more of Moremi Game Reserve and the peaceful interaction of wildlife in an African village where untamed Elephants roam freely around and through the village with the children playing soccer without any fear. The afternoon of Day 6 will see guests being introduced to their first mokoro ride for a 2 hours mokoro ride in the Khwai river, before the main mokoro experience events in the remote parts on the Okavango delta of day 17 and 18.

Day 7-8-9 Savuti

Camp Transfer day

Savuti is mainly a predator paradise with plenty of lion viewing, leopards, cheetahs, hyenas and wild dogs. They are no optional activities in Savuti. It is a place where 2 days is never enough to experience what it has to offer. 3 nights minimum is a compromise. Day 7 Guests will wake up and have breakfast the normal agreed time and have the last morning game drive in Khwai North East of Moremi Game Reserve. Around 11:00am after safari coffee and stretch stop guests will be driven to Savuti and will have picnic lunch along the way. The transfer will take around 4 hours with plenty of game viewing stops. Guests will arrive around 17:00 pm in Savuti to experience their first evening game drive in Savuti as the first welcome note of the predator dominated wildlife location. After sun downers guests will be driven to camp to freshen up before dinner.

Day 8 and 9 in Savuti will be a feast for cats and dog’s lovers as they will be in a land ruled by Lion prides. Savuti is of a much drier marsh vegetation terrain compared to water logged Okavango Delta terrains of Moremi Game Reserve. Time agreed upon for waking up, breakfast, morning game drive, lunch and afternoon game drive in Moremi Game Reserve will continue in the exploration of Savuti.

Day 10-11-12 Chobe and The Victoria Falls

The 4th camp transfer will resemble the camps last 3 transfer events of Moremi Game Reserve, guests will take off after breakfast to investigate the events of the night in the first morning light, while the Kala Safaris team will break down the camp before leaving ahead to Chobe to setup camp in a new location. Around 11:00 am after the first morning game drive and coffees stop, guests will be driven to Chobe National park to experience the Chobe river which is surrounded by 3 countries and its freely roaming wildlife. The Morning of day 11 will start with a safari Boat ride for 2hours in the Chobe river running along the Chobe National park, followed by an afternoon of village tour to have a feel of the culture of the people.

Day 12 will see the guests going on a day trip across the Botswana boarder in to Zimbabwe to experience one of the wonders of the world being the Victoria Falls. Guests will leave early in the morning and come back late in the afternoon.

Day 13-14-15 Nxai pan & Makgadikgadi Pans

Day 13 will start normal like the previous days. Around 07:00am guests will have their last morning game drive in Chobe National Park while the Kala Safaris camp team will take the time to break down the camp and drive ahead of the guests to Makgadikgadi Pans (Nxai Pan National Park region) by tarred road. Around 16:00pm-17:00pm guests will arrive in the Makgadikgadi pan region where Guests will spend their first night in the open salt desert observing the open skies of the Paleo Makgadikgadi. With an option of not sleeping in tents but in the open salt desert under the glow of the many stars.

Day 14 guests will make a short transfer by tarred road less than 2 hours in to Nxai National Park. Guests will enjoy a change in terrain and vegetation by exploring the vast salt desert wild life of Nxai Pan. Drought resistant flora and fauna will be explored in the last 2 days in Nxai National Park through the morning game drive and the afternoon game drive. Adopting the same time routine used and followed in Moremi Game Reserve.

Day 16-17-18 The Okavango Delta

Guests will have their last morning game drive in the salt pans and head to Maun by tarred road to have a short stop in Maun and lunch. From Nxai Pan to Maun transfer will be between 2hrs drive to 2hrs 30min.

If Guests are travelling on any other months except the months of July, August, September. The water levels will be too low to use a speed boats and the transfer to the remote parts of the Okavango Delta will be by road. Approximately a 3 hours dirt bumpy road transfer with plenty of game viewing along the way for day 16. They will be no boat ride in the Okavango Delta remote parts when the water is too low.

If guests are travelling during the months July, August. September guests will get to experience the highlights of travelling in to the Okavango Delta remote islands of Chiefs island by boat. Guests will see at close range the paradise like activities of the beautiful water filled delta and the wild animals carelessly roaming the waters and the land. Day 16 will be a 5 hours upstream transfer from Maun in to Chiefs Island by boat with plenty of game viewing from the water.

Day 17 will be a full day in the breath taking Okavango Delta. Guests will rise to enjoy smooth mokoro ride in the Delta after breakfast followed by morning guided walking safari in the Okavango Delta Islands, to touch smell and be one with nature. The walk will be led by mokoro polers that reside in the remote Okavango Village of Xaxaba to give guests a tour of the traditional way of surviving and flourishing in the Okavango Delta.

Day 18 will see the guests continuing to enjoy morning Mokoro rides in the Okavango Delta and an afternoon of Village walk and tour to see up close the village of the mokoro polers.

Day 19 Departure

Guests will top of the last day in the Okavango Delta by taking a transfer back to Maun International Airport not by road or boat but by air. To have a scenic view of the Okavango Delta for the last time before being dropped of at the airport for international departure or in Maun at a safari lodge or Hotel.

The scenic flight from the island will only be during the dry season when the delta is accessed by road. During the flood season when the delta is accessed by boat. The scenic flight will be done by air during the start of day 16 before access the delta for the last 2 nights of the tour
