Every year, between the Okavango Delta and the Makgadikgadi Pans, during the green season, zebras migrate. The zebra migration is the second largest in the world. Scattered herds can be spotted in the Makgadikgadi palm belt and Okavango Delta, particularly close to the salt pans where the grass is reported to have the maximum mineral concentration.
You will have the chance to see some of the herds on this magnificent safari. We advise you to take advantage of this fantastic safari itineraries helicopter transfer, a memorable highlight of the trip, to explore the uniqueness of Botswana.
The best view of the contrast between the vast salt pans and open grasslands of Nxai Pan and the lagoons and crystal-clear rivers of the delta is from above. This aerial vantage point offers a unique perspective and the chance to capture beautiful images. If you’re fortunate, you might catch a glimpse of the zebra migration while flying.
Come experience a unique green season safari in Botswana!
3 Nights Khwai Bush Camp | 3 Nights Migration Expeditions
Safari starts and ends in Maun, Botswana.
On the outskirts of the Moremi Game Reserve in Botswana, the Khwai Bush Camp is tucked away in a forest of sycamore and leadwood trees. Dramatic afternoon thunderstorms that are anticipated to give wildlife and vegetation much-needed relief make for a superb start to the green season. As vulnerable young are born, predator hunts are frequent as migrant birds arrive in swarms. Take a helicopter ride to the Nxai Pan to see the immensity of the surroundings.
Six tents are located on low decks at Migrations Expeditions, a semi-mobile seasonal camp that is the ideal place to see the zebra migration as tens of thousands of zebra move in in search of new vegetation. Many of the roads become impassable due to the recent rains, but the water wonderland visible from the air is incredible. Flamingos in waves of vivid pink return to the soggy pan. The interesting activities on offer include day visits to the Baines Baobabs, a group of trees that are 1,000 years old.
