A tour with many offering where one gets to enjoy the wilderness in its fullest by exploring the rich rivers of Chobe National Park and walking the desert salt pans of the Paleo Makgadikgadi of Nxai National Park. Witnessing wildlife at its peak surviving and flourishing in an open salt desert.

Day 1 Arrival Chobe/Kasane
Day 1 Arrival Chobe/Kasane

Arrival

Guests will be picked up by Kala Safaris, safari guide from a safari lodge in Kasane or Kasane International Airport. Guests will be picked in a 4x4 open game viewer followed by a safari game viewing safety briefing. The Usual time of guests pickup is normally 8:30am depending on the flight arrival. The transfer from the airport in to Chobe National Park will take around 40 minutes. The morning transfer will cover the first game drive of the tour, through the many game viewing stops that will occur along the way as the guests will be driven to camp through the park to have lunch around noon and to offload luggage and to familiarize themselves with the camp during the day’s light.

Around 15:00pm guests will leave to enjoy the first Chobe National Park sunset over sundowner toast on the banks of the river. Around 18:15pm guests will head back to camp to be treated with a three course bush dinner and close the day around the camp fire.

Day 1

Every day guests will be woken up by their safari guide around 05:30am or 06:00am (depending on the agreed time) to have a 30 minutes morning refresh time. Followed by 30 minutes of breakfast before leaving for the first morning game drive of the day around 06:30am or 07:00am.

Around 11:00/12:00 pm depending on the natural uncontrolled game viewing sightings, guests will be driven back to camp to relax, have lunch, take showers, download photos and to charge cameras before the evening game drive that will start around 15:00pm to 18:15pm

Day 2 - 3 Chobe National Park

Day 2 will be used to have the boat ride in the morning to explore the Chobe National Park aquatic game up close from the river view. Followed by an evening safari game drive that will extent to day 3.

Day 3 can also be used as an optional activity day to do a day trip in to Victoria falls Zimbabwe at an additional cost.

Day 4 Transfer Day

Camp Transfer day

Day 4 will start normal like the previous day. Around 07:00am guests will have their last morning game drive in Chobe National Park while the Kala Safaris camp team will take the time to break down the camp and drive ahead of the guests to Makgadikgadi Pans (Nxai Pan National Park region) by tarred road.

Around 16:00pm-17:00pm guests will arrive in the Makgadikgadi pan region where guests will spend their first night in the open salt desert observing the open skies of the Paleo Makgadikgadi.

Day 5-6 Nxai National Park

Day 5, guests will make a short transfer by tarred road less than 2 hours in to Nxai National Park. Guests will enjoy a change in terrain and vegetation by exploring the vast salt desert wild life of Nxai Pan. Drought resistant flora and fauna will be explored in the last 2 days in Nxai National Park through the morning game drive and the afternoon game drive. Adopting the same time routine used and followed in Chobe National Park.

Day 7 Transfer Day

The 2nd camp transfer will resemble the camps first transfer events from Chobe in to the Makgadikgadi Salt Pans. Guests will have their last morning game drive in the salt pans and head to Maun by tarred road to have a short stop in Maun and lunch. Nxai Pan to Maun transfer will be between 2hrs drive to 2hrs 30min.

An optional activity that can be done in Maun by guests while in transit to Moremi Game reserve is a 45 min or 1 hour scenic flight over the Okavango Delta in Maun during the lunch stop in Maun.

From Maun to Moremi Game Reserve will be a 3hrs transfer on a dirt bumpy terrain. They will be plenty of game viewing stops along the way as wildlife is still plenty on route to the game reserve. Guests will arrive to have their first sunset game drive in the delta water rich wildlife of Moremi Game Reserve.

Day 8-9 Moremi Game Reserve

The last 2 days in Moremi Game Reserve will have the guests pick up from where they left off in Chobe National Park. The exploration of the water dependent African wildlife that roam freely between the water channels and the dense bush and open grassland. Boat ride in north east of the reserve will be the highlight of day 8.

Day 9 will be a full day in Khwai North East of Moremi Game Reserve. The day will be a day trip event from South of Moremi Game Reserve to the North East side. Guests will leave the South side early morning to explore the North east side on the morning game drive. Guests will be served picnic lunch and move to experience the mokoro ride in the afternoon. Before doing the 1hr 30min transfer back to the South of Moremi where camp will be established.

Day 10 Departure Maun

Departure

Depending on the time of departure flight from Maun International Airport. Guests will wake up at normal time and do a short game drive before being dropped off at the airport or by the safari lodge.

since winter is the best time to do safaris in Botswana how cold are the winters?

Botswana winters are fairly cold not extreme. during winter from late evening to early hours of the morning can be very cold but nothing below zero degrees. we do not experience negative degree weather. during the day can feel like a summer day in Europe. Cold nights and warm days to do safaris.
